Claude's Worst Reel Ever

A 45-second comedy reel where Claude deliberately makes the most painful motion graphics possible, then gives up and lands one perfect frame.

The prompt behind it

Prompt

Build this in Layerz Canvas using the layerz-canvas MCP.

Have Claude make a 45-second, 1920×1080 "showreel" in Layerz Canvas that is intentionally, lovingly terrible, as if designed to get a résumé rejected. Then, in the last six seconds, Claude can't help itself.

The bad part (0–39s) should be carefully bad, every mistake a recognisable cliché:
- 0–5s: Title "MY SHOWREEL!!!" in a clashing lime #9DFF00 on magenta #FF00C8, centred slightly off-centre, rotating slowly for no reason. Spelled correctly, sadly.
- 5–11s: Every word of "I am a motion designer" flies in from a different edge with linear motion and no easing, overshoots the frame and comes back.
- 11–17s: A star shape spins at a constant speed while pulsing in size. A drop shadow so heavy it is darker than the star. Glow at 100%.
- 17–24s: "SKILLS" bar chart with bars that grow, shrink and grow again; one bar goes past the top of the artboard. Labels: "Keyframes", "More keyframes", "Fonts".
- 24–31s: A stick-figure character waves using two rotation keyframes, arm detaching slightly at the end of each wave.
- 31–39s: Every transition at once: a crossfade into a spin into a blur into a push, landing on a slide that says "THANK YOU FOR WATCHING" in four different weights at once. Confetti, too much of it.

The turn (39–45s): A violet #7C5CFF cursor arrow glides in and clicks. Everything freezes, drains to grey and falls away. Silence. On a clean #FAF8F5 background, a single line in SF Pro Display medium rises softly: "Okay. Fine." Then, below it, smaller: "Claude × Layerz Canvas". Perfect spacing, perfect ease, a 1.2s hold.

Craft notes: the bad section must still be readable so the jokes land; no element in the bad section uses an easing curve; the good ending uses only one easing and one colour accent so the contrast is obvious.

Edit it yourself

  • Change colours, text and type in the inspector.
  • Drag keyframes, reshape easing curves and retime any move.
  • Ask Claude for changes through the MCP, then fine-tune by hand.
  • Export it as an image, a video, Lottie or a web page like this one.
