Common questions

How do I join the beta?
Install TestFlight from the Mac App Store, then open the beta link (or the invitation email) and click Accept and Install. You need macOS 15 or later. During the beta every Pro feature is unlocked.
What do I put on the phone's screen?
A screen recording or a screenshot of your app for each scene — choose it in the inspector's Clip section. A scene without a clip plays on the previous scene's clip. A recording sets how long its scenes last; a picture lasts as long as you set.
Record iPhone… doesn't find my iPhone.
Connect the iPhone or iPad with a cable, unlock it and tap Trust when it asks about this Mac. Recording over Wi-Fi isn't supported. The first time, Layerz Promo asks for the Camera permission — macOS treats a connected device as a camera; your Mac's camera isn't used. If you declined, turn Layerz Promo on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
How do I change how a scene moves?
Select the scene and click Change… under Style. Move the pointer across a style to preview its motion. Your clip and words stay when you switch.
Can I colour a word?
Yes. Put it between asterisks — *like this* — and it's drawn in the accent colour.
How do I make the video in another language?
In the Words section, click Add Language… and choose the languages. Type each scene's words per language, pick which one the preview shows from the toolbar's Language menu, and export every language at once from the Export sheet.
Can I use an iPhone Duo?
Yes. In the App tab, set Device to iPhone Duo. The Unfold and Fold styles open and close it; a scene can show its own media on the outer screen.
Where are my videos saved?
Where you choose when you export. Projects (.promo) are saved like any Mac document and keep a copy of everything you added, so you can move them to another Mac.
Can I keep editing the video somewhere else?
Open in Layerz Canvas saves the video as a Layerz Canvas document, where every layer and keyframe can be changed.
